Exploring La Union

The best way to have fun while exploring a new place, is to have a crazy guy with you. LOL! It's more fun in the Philippines!

Photoblog below!

Yaaaaasssss!!!! Thiz iz it! We made it to La Union, and we are soooooo damn early. Based on my calculations and on the blogs I have read, our ETA was supposedly at around 7 to 8 AM. We left Manila at 12:20 AM and got here in San Fernando at 5:20AM. Which was okay, cause the sun wasn't out yet. But where to go? We have planned this for weeks but just recently I was diagnosed with a mild heart disease, so change of plans. Instead of surfing, we went food tripping and exploring. So this was our IT for day 1.

DAY I

•Touchdown La Union

Yay! We made it!

•Saint William Cathedral

•Brekky at Jollibee

Boikfast while waiting for the sun to come up.

•Filipino-Chinese Friendship Pagoda

Bagay na bagay!

The view of San Fernando right behind us.

He's pointin at it! FEEL GOOD!

•Ma-Cho Temple

35 steps to get to the top.

We didn't get to go inside the Temple, since we got here super early so we just took shots of the fine architecture.

Waiting for a jeep to get to the resort.

•Early check-in at Isla Bonita (San Juan)

Yep, this is our stop. San Juan's public market. You may either walk going to the resort or ride a tricycle. We prefer walking.

Can't wait to shower and nap!

The place was very nice, I think their website did not give justice as to how nice the place really was.

If you like peace and quiet, staying here is a must.

Away from the surf spot, you'd have to take a jeep, tricycle or your own car to get there.

If you are traveling with kids, it's important to check in at a resort that has a swimming pool. The beach isn't that kid friendly, due to big waves and it's depth. It is immediately knee deep or waist deep once you step in the water.

•Lunch at the resort

Resort food was great. Yum!

•Stroll at the beach

My favorite part of the day.

Too hot for a swim, but not too hot for picture taking.

Afternoon snack is up next...
A tricycle ride to the shack, Surf Shack.

•Snack/Early dinner @ Surf Shack

The pizza was just superb, and the prices were just right. Definitely a must try if you are in San Juan, La Union.

Loved the ambiance here. So bright and colorful.

I just adored that hippie tree.

Colorful writings on the wall.

•Stroll at Urbiztondo, San Juan

•Surf watching

Part of our original plan was to go surfing, from what I saw, La Union is perfect for first time surfers (not that I have other places to compare it to, I have not been to Siargao or Baler) during this time of the month the waves aren't that big and a lot of kids are learning to surf.

•Sunset watching

•Back to the resort

That was a tiring looooong day. Good night...

DAY II

Brand new day..

Here is what happened on our day 2.

•Early morning swim

The water wasn't cold, which was perfect.

Sexy ni Jeff! Baymax ko yan. :)

And... Yes... My selfie moment. ;)

•Checked out Cafe Esperanza

I was kind of disappointed, hello? Cupcake lover here. I was hoping to eat those magnum cupcakes that I saw in one of the blogs I have read. And when we got there, they didn't even have pastries. They weren't even sure if pastries will arrive in the afternoon.

But we did have some juice and banana cake which was yummy. So I'm sure the other cakes are yummy too. Better luck next time.

•10:15AM mass at St. William's Cathedral in San Fernando

•Brunch at Halo-halo de Iloko

This... Was my most awaited part of the day. I had no idea how popular this restaurant was, or is. They have been featured in TV shows such as KrisTV.
Having been featured in different shows and magazines and papers, the prices were still very very reasonable. And the food? Wow! Sarap!

                     How festive?

Okoy sarap!

What he said!

•Afternoon nap at the resort

It was super hot that day, so we felt tired after eating. Haha! We went back to the resort for a nap then woke up and headed to another restaurant.

Strolled along the beach to get to the Flotsam and Jetsam.

Dami na bang selfie moment?

•Early dinner at Flotsam and Jetsam

The food was perfect, we had a hard time looking for this place tho. But the food was really just great. The sign wasn't that visible along the highway and not very colorful compared to the inside and from the articles and photos on their website. So make sure to remember their sign, and be on the look out once on the highway.

•Back to resort

DAY III

•Swimming

•Brunch

•Check out

•After 8 hours bus ride, touchdown
Manila

Ready for the 8 hour looooong ride.

Enjoyed the trip so much and can't wait to be back, hopefully I get to try surfing next time. But what I enjoyed the most is spending quality time with my big man. <3 <3 <3

See you soon La Union!
